Call of Duty: Black Ops - first look at Theater Mode

One of the biggest changes to the Call of Duty franchise this year will be the addition of Theater Mode. If you've ever played around with Saved Films in Halo 3, you know exactly what to expect: a built-in machinima studio in which every multiplayer match can be saved and then explored with a free-roaming camera. Want to rewind and watch that kill again? Do it. Want a perfect snapshot of that grenade explosion, with individual pieces of shrapnel frozen in the air? It's yours. Want to pull out clips for a montage of killstreaks? Easy.

Here, take a look. While at the multiplayer reveal event earlier this week, we captured footage of the Theater Mode in action:

    I for one don't see the need to have a theater mode, yeah it's entertaining but I care much more about the gameplay.

    I spent way too much time checking out my saved films on Halo 3 so this feature is welcomed in COD. It's nice to be able to admire your work. In fact, I long for a day when all games have this.

    I didn't mind the blatant copying of Halo 3's theater, but when they announced FILE SHARES?! WTF, all they did was steal Halo's ideas and make it mediocre.

    @sofaku well of course it won't be as good on the wii but it's better then just about 99% of wii shooter games out there, be sides they got cod4 on there so even if they downgrade the graphics i can live with it,
    and i may still get a 360/ps3 after the 3ds comes out but for now i'm more of a portable gamer.

    why do i get the feeling youtube is going to be inundated with lucky shots or terrible gameplay because some 12 yr olds actually go positive in a match? hopefully i'm wrong.

    Was the term "file share" not a Halo thing?

    I'm also wondering about the web integration. Anyone who's gone to their Halo 3 Service Record on bungie.net knows what I'm talking about. Will I be able store these films/screenshots online?

    can you put your gun down? if you can't put your gun down there's no point in machinima mode. i'm tired of the fucking montages they aren't interesting.

    Does it only have the free roaming camera? Or can you switch to first person like you can in Halo 3/Reach?

    man i'm SO glad this is coming to wii (how i don't know) i was about to get a 360 but then they announced the 3ds so i've been saving up for that instead, it always bugs me nintendo had the weak console so i could never get stuff like halo 3 or modern warfare 2 but thanks to treyarch i can own a high quality shooter witch the wii is starved of.
