now, seriously, get rid of the list format! I can't look at ANY of them anymore

3 is the new 7? Hope that's not the case, I know you mentioned "...easier to see a 2.5-star game and..." - which I'm hoping means you're scale adopts half points, otherwise, why mention it. I guess I don't care so much about the math behind your ratings, as much as I'm excited to be able to SEARCH for a game and not have to trudge through 1998 list results that have nothing to do with my query.

Yep, we have half-stars. We debated about the hard shift of only using full stars, but we ended up agreeing that we need that additional level of nuance.

That sounds like a...truly difficult decision(that didn't have to be made). A 5 out of 10, regardless, means the game is probably not that good or is loaded with technical issues of some sort. I don't see how gold stars are "intuitive", hard numbers have more explanatory value and immediately hit you with the grade - Plus if you're going to be using half stars, then the purpose is defeated entirely >_> The scores are just cut in half and pasted onto the sideboard there for lazy readers. (I also wouldn't call a 5-star system "full" scale, when you're actually cutting the numbers in half. And a 1-star is one thing, but a 1 out of 10 strikes with much more emphasis.)

"Put the rating at the end, not on the side. That encourages lazy reading, and would partially defeat the purpose of writing the whole article." "Super reviews were one of the best things about Gamesradar. Bring them back." "2 large buttons and neither one is "edit"" Also, the 5-star rating system does not have the same ring to it as the 10-point scale. It just doesn't.

Put the rating at the end, not on the side. That encourages lazy reading, and would partially defeat the purpose of writing the whole article. Go back to the 10 point system as well - 5 points simply don't tell you enough.

Looks like someone is a fan of the Polygon review template.

I like the changes overall, but I do have an idea that could potentially address the issue that some people are having with the sidebar score. The obvious solution would be to remove the sidebar from all but the last page, but if you wanted to take it a step further you could keep the score in the old location and add the sidebar to every page but the last but keep it hidden. That is, make it so that you have to click it if you want to see it. It would probably make for more work, in terms of coding, but I bet that you could find some way to streamline it. That should please everyone except for the most tiresome of nitpickers; as well as, perhaps, the people having to do the work. lol

Fuck you guys for putting the rating on the sidebar again. I want the rating to be shown after reading the review. Everything else is fine though. But seriously, fuck the sidebar score. Please put it back in the bottom again.

    Here here

Hey, I love that you love reading our stuff. And I wish everyone read every word we published. But the score, up-front, is for the vast majority of users who want info fast. The score isn't meant to be a surprise, or to spoil the text. They exist hand-in-hand, and one enhances (and speaks to) the other. Thanks for reading. Seriously. We love readers like you, who are passionate about enjoying what we produce.

It looks beautiful but what was the point of switching to stars?
  • EwoksTasteLikeChicken - June 26, 2012 2:18 p.m.

Remember back when everyone was raging about how GR gave Halo Reach an 8? This way, no one will complain about Halo 4's rating.
  • aspiisd - June 26, 2012 8:11 a.m.

Forgot to say, add an EDIT button please!
  • aspiisd - June 26, 2012 8:09 a.m.

I like the 5 star scale and the more user friendly interface but the SuperRewiews should be back, i really loved those and that's a reason i found GR.
  • AuthorityFigure - June 26, 2012 3:34 a.m.

Better than the current blog style. The year of the blog was 2004.
  • CitizenWolfie - June 26, 2012 3:27 a.m.

That all sounded great until the 5 star rating system. Personally I thought GR was (usually) always fair with their /10 system instead of just the "7 = bad, 8 = OK etc" thing that most sites do. Ah well. Hopefully the cool articles and features will remain funny and/or controversial.
  • UndeadCorpse - June 26, 2012 3:06 a.m.

    So, like IGN then.
  • jenovalife1 - June 26, 2012 1:04 a.m.

i bet theres no reboot to talk radar in that re-design XD
  • talleyXIV - June 26, 2012 1:02 a.m.

A 5 star scale is the same thing as a 10 point scale.
