Beyond: Two Souls David Cage video interview - "I'll make you forget this is a game"

We thought Beyond: Two Souls was one of the best surprises from Sony's E3 press conference. A psychological thriller/action game starring Ellen Page, it left us wanting to know more. David Cage, the head of the project, took the time field some questions about the story and mechanics of Quantic Dream's exciting new project. Take a look:

Cage is still being pretty tight-lipped about this upcoming release, and who can blame him, but the bits he revealed the nature Jodie's powers and how her physical state affects her abilities are all very intriguing. We can't wait to find out more about this game! In the meantime, check out our Beyond: Two Souls preview for more in-depth details.

So there WON'T be a 2nd Heavy Rain Chronicle?
  • CoryRX8 - June 8, 2012 8:49 a.m.

I agree, so I really hope that Cage isn't writing this one himself. Heavy Rain was brilliant at telling a story that was full of plot-holes and logical leaps; there was so much unrealized potential in that game that it isn't even funny. David Cage is the George Lucas of the games industry: he's awesome at dreaming up universes and high-concepts, but he can't write a decent script to save his life. Hopefully he acknowledges that.

Arg, this was supposed to be a reply to Tjwoods18's post.

This guy just wants to be Peter Molyneux Jr.

Not until the physics get "phyxed". Seriously though, the physics in this game (from what I have seen so far) have been quite terrible. Cars, people and helicopters DO NOT act that way in the event of an explosion.

Just no pervy close-up shower scenes this time, alright Cage? Gratutious nudity doesn't make your game mature, sophisticated or artsy.

"Cage is still being pretty tight-lipped about this upcoming release..." One might even say he being cagey when it come to his new game. Right, yea... you know cagey because his name is cage and he's not saying much about the game... Ok fine bad joke, good interview :)

Then don't charge $60 for it, blu ray movies are $30 at most. That'll help me forget.
  • OD-Apache - June 7, 2012 6:35 p.m.

Movie: $30 - 2 hours. This game: $60 - At least 8 hours, probably. By your logic this game is already half off. Sounds like a steal to me!

    ^^you just got told ;)
  • BladedFalcon - June 7, 2012 5:41 p.m.

Before listening to the interview, i had forgotten what he had mentioned at the Sony conference about how this entire story would be told in the span of over 20 years of Jodie's life. And i can't believe I forgot it, because I think that's actually a pretty interesting concept and a neat idea. So it can hopefully be successfully explored in the game. Also, here's hoping that this time we won't get a needless and gratuitous "love" scene like the one Heavy Rain had. (And like the one Indigo prophecy also had as well, apparently.) That just felt phoned in, and it was very awkward and uncomfortable to sit trough. Maybe the fact that the actress and Mocap used is all Ellen Page will also contribute to help prevent that from happening.

I clinched when I saw the dudes wee wee

I am Ok with that. We tend to forget shooters, but we always remember immersive — story drive games.
