On the Radar: Growing up in Sonoma County I spent as much time as possible playing games on my families Texas Instruments home personal computer, TI-99, playing games like Adventure using the cassette drive, writing simple programs with Basic, playing a quick round of TI Invaders or my favorite at the time Hunt the Wumpus. That last one sounds a little dirty but I assure you it was totally legit. By 1989 I was able to enter the current gen at the time just a few years later than my friends when I got a NES. My chores and homework quickly took a back seat to make room for games like Super Mario Bros, Metroid, and The Legend of Zelda.
First Gaming Obsession: Hunt the Wumpus (TI-99/4A)
Pro Tip: UP, UP, DOWN, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, LEFT, RIGHT, B, A, START applies to everything in life.

On the Radar: Londoner Dave began writing for, and later editing, computer magazines in the 1990s, after studying medieval literature for some reason. A lifelong sci-fi fan, he moved to geek bible SFX in May 2005 when the long-running mag needed a new captain in the big chair. He rejoiced at his chance to combine those years of magazine know-how with his absurd love of Star Wars, Star Trek and the novels of Douglas Adams. He's been to San Diego Comic-Con many times but does not cosplay, unless "hungover British journalist" is an accepted costume.
Desert island movie: Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope (1977). Of course.

On the Radar: Thomas has been everything from a PE Teacher to a Locksmith but his passion has always been video production. After attempting to be an aspiring filmmaker he decided to get a real job and make videos about videogames on the Internet. He spent a little time making videos for the duders over at Giantbomb and Tested, took a little break to be a stay at home dad (played a lot of MMOs), then found his way to GamesRadar.
First Gaming Obsession: Super Street Fighter II
Pro Tip: If you bind everything to your mouse, you can play WOW and hold your infant son at the same time

On the Radar: Growing up under Florida’s hot sun, Henry found comfort indoors playing videogames while hiding out from fresh air. Following years of practice with the alphabet, he eventually learned how to put words in sentences, which inspired him to be a writer. He then came to California to strike it rich in the lucrative game journalism world. He currently lives in a studio apartment somewhat bigger than a prison cell.
First Gaming Obsession: Super Mario Bros (NES)
Pro Tip: Crouch on the white block near the end of World 1-3 in Mario 3 to get your first warp whistle.

On the Radar: Although he only joined the GamesRadar team in 2013, people have been paying Andy to write about games since 2003. He still can’t quite believe it’s happening, and he occasionally worries that one day someone will notice, and ask him to get a proper job. During his career, Andy has interviewed many industry greats like Hideo Kojima, Cliffy B, and David Cage. He’s never whooped at a press conference, but he did shed a solitary tear when Bethesda announced Skyrim. He once scored a game ‘zero out of ten’.
First gaming obsession: Sid Meier’s Civilization
Pro tip: Remember: Only Robinson Crusoe had everything done by Friday

On the Radar: Harnessing a dark, alchemical combination of words and video games to kickstart his career online (after the grim discovery that a film degree doesn’t necessarily qualify anyone for anything) Dave escaped the dread, blasted landscape of the windswept north and travelled to the more sensible and civilised south more than six whole years ago. He spends his days perfecting the noble art of the Psycho Crusher, pondering the various nobilities and failures of Man, lambasting weak storytelling in all it’s forms, and weaving consistently semi-spectacular results from the eldritch culinary arts. He also reads and watches an inordinate amount of horror, and finds ECTO-1’s siren hauntingly beautiful to this very day.
First Gaming Obsession: Harrier Attack (Spectrum +2)
Pro Tip: Cthulhu is coming. Look busy.

On the Radar: A lifelong nerd, Jann has always worked in the world of pop culture. Toys, comic books, manga, and animation, she has worked on some of the most recognizable brands in the world. And she has loved every single minute of it. Although she misses the hustle and snow of NYC, she embraces the sunshine of the West Coast. She’s proud to be a Pokémaster and she spends way too much time playing Cooking Mama instead of, you know, actually cooking. She lives in San Francisco with two cats who love her as much as they hate each other.
First gaming obsession: Pitfall on the Atari 2600
Pro Tip: Don't be afraid to go Mega.

On the Radar: Maxwell was born and raised on a lazy creekbank deep in the American South. His days there were spent searching for snakes out in the woods (a dangerous habit) and playing his Sega Genesis. After graduating college, Max crowbarred his way into an internship with GamesRadar's sister site, PC Gamer, back in 2009. He then spent nearly four years at GameSpot traveling the world and working his dream job. Now that dream continues back at GamesRadar. He also loves fighting games.
First Gaming Obsession: Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (Genesis)
Pro Tip: A shark on whisky is mighty risky.

On the Radar: Raised in the dark, dangerous wilds of the northern forests (commonly known as Oregon), Ashley has taken well to GamesRadar's base of operations in California and is slowly figuring out what the sun is. First exposed to video games while watching her father play Doom (before being told it was too violent), she has been playing them ever since and recently loaned him BioShock. After graduating from the University of Oregon, she put her B.A. in English and Psychology to work doing what she really wanted: writing about video games, which GamesRadar was kind enough to oblige. When she's not gaming, she enjoys accidentally marathoning television shows, losing at basketball, and sleeping at inopportune moments.
First Gaming Obsession: Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
Pro-Tip: Always double tap.

On the Radar: When Lucas was 10, he got his first console for Christmas, the almighty Super Nintendo--and his parents worried that he would play until he passed out due to lack of sleep and/or food. This was but one chapter in Lucas' lifelong passion for all things gaming. Having grown up reading stacks upon stacks of gaming magazines, Lucas decided that he would combine his knack for writing and his love of videogames by going into journalism. After nabbing a BA in Journalism from Rutgers University and interning at PC Gamer, he joined the talented crew at GamesRadar to live out his lifelong dream.
First Gaming Obsession: Donkey Kong Country 2 (SNES)
Pro Tip: Chain-spamming flatland tricks is the key to high scores in Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4.

On the Radar: Sophia is a transplanted Canadian who decided several years ago that she was done with boring office jobs, and decided to go back to school and study journalism. She spent years writing for various websites, not knowing she could turn it into a career. Before GamesRadar, she worked at IGN for a few months and then spent more than three years working at GameSpot. Now she's ready to rule the internet with this kickass team. When she’s not busy playing random video games she likes to bake cupcakes, take embarrassing photos of her dog, and take naps.
First Gaming Obsession: Beast (ASCII game on the PC)
Pro Tip: Mudding (multi-user dungeon) is dangerous. Don’t do it.

On the Radar: Justin's been on the UK GamesRadar team since early 2006, back when all this was just fields. Before that, he worked for regional weekly newspaper The Somerset County Gazette, reviewing games whenever he could, even though he only ever got sent 2D fighting games from SNK. Oh, and Viewtiful Joe. That was a good day. He earned a degree in multimedia journalism at Bournemouth, but only recalls taking pictures of squirrels in the park and gambling Lovehearts and chocolate bars on the results of house tournaments on PES 2.
First Gaming Obsession: Treasure Island Dizzy (ZX Spectrum+)
Pro Tip: Run home behind a taxi and save a tenner.

On the Radar: After graduating with a BS in Business and becoming exposed to the cruel realities that he had to get a job, Lorenzo chased the corporate monster, landing jobs labeling stool samples, working in an internet start-up, and even manning the trenches of game testing. Now he’s taken refuge in GamesRadar’s cheats and guides pages learning the ropes of games journalism, and helping gamers in their struggle with achievement and trophy related strife.
First Gaming Obsession: Contra (NES)
Pro Tip: Ignore the scowl. Just bring a sandwich, a beverage brewed with hops, and Star Wars Trivial Pursuit and everything will be all right.

On the Radar: Iain has been playing video games since the heady times of the rubber-keyed ZX Spectrum, and still fondly remembers buying cassette tapes based on box art that bore no resemblance to the actual product. These days he is better known to many as ‘Mr Trophy’, due to his slightly unhealthy obsession with amassing intangible PlayStation silverware. By the time PS4 launched he had already unlocked over 50 platinum trophies, and the shelves of his virtual award cabinet are straining under the weight of more than 7000 shiny pots. He does not care for Xbox achievements.
First Gaming Obsession: Sensible World of Soccer (Amiga)
Pro Tip: Don’t believe everything you read on Wikipedia.
