TPS + QTEs = auto-nobuy. Either of those on it's own is near enough to make it an auto-nobye but together? No thanks.

If this game succeeds, I will buy a PS4.

So far sounds like a Gamefly rental. For some reason Ryse comes to mind since each seems to be the showcase for next gen graphics on respective platform. The only difference is that this is only a tiny bit more intriguing to me. I mean tiny. Victorian London is more exciting to me than Rome, but I'm not a big fan of werewolf/vampire story lines. So while it may be a bit more original than Ryse's ripoff of Gladiator, it doesn't do that much for me. I'll definitely put it in my queue just to see what it looks like, but I have a feeling it will go back in the disk envelope pretty quickly.
  • Craza - February 18, 2014 5:30 p.m.

This could either be the Steampunk/Victorian game of my dreams, or a harsh disappointment that fails to truly live up to its potential. I'm wishing it the best, but I've become so skeptical of anything these days.
  • RSQViper - February 18, 2014 11:22 a.m.

I like Third Person. Makes you a lot more attached to your character, in my mind. But as for this game, I haven't seen anything yet to make me go "OOOH!" CGI? Screenshots? Am I missing the demo somewhere? Was it reviewer-only and you aren't showing us the video? WHY? Previews are so 100% hype, man. In any case, next gen is here unless you haven't tried Titanfall yet. At least that's what your tweet implied. As in THIS is the only "next gen" game. It's not. Hype machine.
  • blue-heelerky - February 18, 2014 1:31 p.m.

Titanfall began and will exist on a previous gen engine as well as exist on the 360. If any game has too much hype, it's that one.
  • RSQViper - February 18, 2014 2:46 p.m.

Who gives a crap if it "EXISTS" elsewhere? The game is great so far. The beta has proven me wrong. i was a skeptic of that game. VERY looking forward to full release now.
  • shawksta - February 18, 2014 10:53 a.m.

    Alright so far so good.
  • universaltofu - February 18, 2014 10:46 a.m.

I read it as : *heavily sighs* and it's a third person shooter *evades making eye contact* Still looks cool, we'll see what they do with it.
  • BladedFalcon - February 18, 2014 8:51 a.m.

Hrm... another cover based TPS with regenerating health? I won't shun it straight away, but I was hoping for something a little more exciting from the gameplay concept. There's still time to be pleasantly surprised though.
  • GR_RyanTaljonick - February 18, 2014 9:08 a.m.

Yeah, we really only got to see about 20-30 seconds of combat. Hoping there's some more to it than shooting from waist high cover :D
  • BladedFalcon - February 18, 2014 9:39 a.m.

Agreed, I mean, I like the setting and the aesthetic of the game a lot, it's just that, just like with FPS, I'm getting tried of the typical chest-high wall TPS, and if this game doesn't really offer any interesting spin on it, (like say, Vanquish or Max Payne 3, or TloU did.) I don't see myself being very excited for it... Unless the characters and story turn out to be superb, which I'm hoping they will be.
  • Letter11 - February 18, 2014 11:39 a.m.

Im a big fan of the setting as well and they did a great job bringing it to life as the environments are incredibly detailed. Maybe that's why the inexbicable waist-high cover walls looked so out of place in an alley fight I saw, they weren't inconspicously presented as a fence or something that would naturally be found in the otherwise cohesive environment, they were just there because, "hey this is a game and a TPS needs cover". I wonder if that is something that will happen more often as visual fidelity progresses, the "gamey" elements create sort of a dissonance in the overall experience. Anyway even as I nitpick, the game looks absolutely gorgeous and I'd love to play it.
  • GOD - February 19, 2014 9:05 p.m.

Well sitting back and shooting from waist high cover is probably only something that will work against the human enemies. My hope is that when the beast men (werewolves) come into play, that's when the game reveals the ace up its sleeve and shows you where its unique gameplay and draw is.
  • BladedFalcon - February 19, 2014 11:12 p.m.

One can hope... But really, can you name me one TPS cover based shooter that does that apart from Vanquish?
  • GOD - February 19, 2014 11:27 p.m.

I would say Uncharted. Vanquish had it's spin on TPS with power slides, and Uncharted had it with climbing and verticality. Also both of those games had pretty good melee combat as well. In Vanquish your melee strike was dependent on the weapon you had out, and in Uncharted you had multiple melee options available from brawling to pulling enemies off ledges. Neither one had canned animations of you swinging a knife to trigger an enemy dying and that's it. Hopefully this also being a TPS means they'll do some cool things with your character movements/interactions/etc. and I'm also looking forward to the weapons as well. My fear about the weapons though is that it will be something like FUSE with each character having one special weapon and that's it. My hope is that it will be something more akin to Resistance with a great variety of unique and fun weapons, although less alien sci-fi and more industrial science. I think some kind of upgrade system as well would probably add some nice depth. Also as much as I'd like it to have something very new and cool, it doesn't have to innovate for me. There aren't enough just solid games that feel good to play with solid mechanics and satisfying shooting. Vanquish only worked because the gameplay itself was very polished and satisfying. Lastly, and I know this has been long enough already, but they are fighting werewolves after all, so we can't rule out the chance that magic could play a role, or that there may be a point where you play as a werewolf yourself.
  • db1331 - February 18, 2014 8:29 a.m.

I love how they're trying to spin that it's only 30fps by saying 30 frames is what they targeted from the start, and that it just suits the game. Bullshit. It's 30fps because the game can't run at 60fps. The next gen has truly arrived.
  • Letter11 - February 18, 2014 11:49 a.m.

Nah db you got it all wrong, 30 FPS is more "cinematic". It was an artistic choice man.Don't question them.
  • Moondoggie1157 - February 18, 2014 3:59 p.m.

Call me spoiled, but I'm getting to the point where I shun a lot of games based purely on the fact that they are only 30-45fps. I blame DMC for that. i'm so glad I didn't drop cash down on a PS4 or XO... I'm sure games running 60fps will be a thing of the norm during this generation, but obviously not yet, it's a damn shame... Guess I'll be living in the past until the future is something worthwhile.
  • taokaka - February 18, 2014 8:15 a.m.

I want to actually see a proper trailer for this game, it has received far too much hype from the gaming press for such little exposure. If it wasn't a new gen exclusive it would be totally forgotten by now.
