007 Legends trailer is On Her Majesty's Secret Service

Next year will see the 50th anniversary of Casino Royale, the very first James Bond novel. To celebrate (and participate in the flurry of excitement surrounding the Bond franchise that is sure to arise during the 50th anniversary, Activision is planning 007 Legends which features sections based on many classic Bond flicks.

This trailer debuts the section based on one of Bond's lesser-known adventures, On Her Majesty's Secret Service, which will follow the previously revealed Moonraker section that kicks off the game. 007 Legends is due out on October 23, 2012.

And they put craig's ugly face in it again... I thought they'd be smarter. Apparently no. Bond franchise has a very long black streak since this.... "actor" was picked for the role, I think it's time for it to end and Bond to go to his roots, entertaining, charming, over the top movies, with new, much better fitting for the role actor.

It really weirds me out seeing Daniel Craig replacing... any other Bond, because he's so different from the rest of them.

It's too bad it doesn't actually have George Lazenby in it. They should use the OHMSS theme for this, though. It's a great tune. Honestly, it looks to me like this game will take classic Bond movies and remake them into COD (like the Goldeneye remake). It's a shame.

Haha You're right, it kind of does look like CoD 007.

Looks really, really bad. Completely generic. No surprise there though. It is a Bond game after all.

My grand idea for a Bond game is a multiplayer shooter in which the #1 player on the server goes up against the 100 worst players on the server who all have to dress in identical uniforms. And they can only attack in waves of three. Martinis will give the Bond-player powerups, but Pussy Galore will invade some levels and attempt to distract him from his mission.

So who's the developer? I'd like to know, so we can know what studio will be closing in the next 6 months.
  • Andrew Groen - July 11, 2012 3:53 p.m.

The developer is Eurocom. They've worked on a ridiculously large load of games over the past 20+ years, including all the most recent Bond titles like the Goldeneye remake. So it'll be polished, but don't expect much to be new and exciting.

No Mr. Groen, i expect them to die! Terrible 007 jokes aside, I'm honestly interested to see how this will turn out in the long run. Because like you pointed out, the game probably will be solid, and nothing special, and I have the impression that most of the 007 games of the last 15 years haven't really sold that well. So what I wonder is, how long will it take for Activision to stop milking this particular drained, old cow.

Ok, the 6 missions thing is pretty vague. Is there really just going to be 6 levels, or will you be reliving each entire movie? I wish they would make this more clear, because the game looks awesome!

Hard to "relive" the movies when this video clearly shows that the missions are remakes of the movies (sadly). And even if every single of those missions will take 1-2 hours, it will suck, as this is clearly a generic shooter, which haven't even been given the graphics of CoD, so Activision is treating this like any other movie based game, even though this game actually had the chance of being the 2nd Bond game, to prove that movie based games does not have to suck. But it will. And why couldn't they have done like in "From Russia With Love" game, where they actually got Sir/Doctor Sean Connery instead of Pierce Brosnan?? Craig is another kind of Bond not suited for the previous movies. Stick with the originals them.

It's not just six levels, that's just the On Her Majesty's Secret Service section. There will also be sections for other movies like Moonraker.

Maybe it means six missions in that particular movie section, not the entire game. Either that or it will cover 6 movies, which will probably be split up into different missions. I'm not really sure what to say about the game. Looks pretty straightforward, so maybe it's not necessarily going to be bad, I just don't see it being anything special.
