Leaked video has surfaced online of Whore of the Orient, the next project from the team behind L.A. Noire. Videogamer is hosting the footage of the work-in-progress game, which affords the first look at its main character, some early gameplay, and its take on Shanghai.
Keep in mind that the choppy frame rate, off-kilter animations, and (hopefully) that awful music are all symptoms of a project not yet ready to meet public eyes. However, the crowded streets, chases, fisticuffs and cover-based gunplay are telling even in an unpolished state. It looks a lot like L.A. Noire in Shanghai, so far.
Former developer Team Bondi folded in 2011, but several developers and the rights to Whore of the Orient were brought on by Australian media group KMM. It reportedly ceased production on the game in April, but received $200,000 from an Australian investor in June to continue development.

I got a BA in journalism from Central Michigan University - though the best education I received there was from CM Life, its student-run newspaper. Long before that, I started pursuing my degree in video games by bugging my older brother to let me play Zelda on the Super Nintendo. I've previously been a news intern for GameSpot, a news writer for CVG, and was formerly a staff writer at GamesRadar+.
