Choice is always a good thing. It’s why menus were invented when you go to a restaurant, right? The same thing goes for multiplayer in the world of online gaming, especially when all your friends play on different consoles. However, the likelihood of having all your pals on the same platform is about as likely as Half Life 3 being announced...unless you’re playing Paladins: Champions of the Realm, of course.
Brandon is playing with this free-to-play online team shooter in this episode of What’s in the Box?, and it’s available on Nintendo Switch, Steam, PS4, and Xbox One, plus it has crossplay. Hallelujah.
Paladins pits you against a range of heroes like elves with magical mirrors, or a dragon with a fondness for fireballs, or even an eccentric inventor. And as you can get it for the low, low price of nothing, there’s nothing stopping you from rounding up your buddies and jumping into a game - or just put yourself to the test against those playing on a different platform.
If you wanted to change things up and switch from PC to Xbox One to Nintendo Switch and somehow own every single one of those consoles (I envy you), rest assured that thanks to crossplay all of your content and progress will be at your fingertips no matter which device you play on. With deep character customisation, major content updates every single month and a brand new champion who can summon a freakin’ dragon, you really have no excuse not to try out Paladins.
