You were the prototype for the Little Sisters
You were Rapture's first guinea pig, but you certainly weren't its last. Your legacy - the aftermath of Fontaine's experimentation - is everywhere you look.
See, a woman named Tenenbaum had discovered these sea slugs with stuff called Adam in them... stuff that could alter people's genetic makeup in whatever they desired. Think of it as cosmetic surgery for the DNA. Unfortunately, this Adam could only be harvested from a very unusual source - the bodies of the recently deceased.
It's a frightening prospect, but Fontaine figured out a way to make it more palatable to the public. He recruited little girls through his "orphanage" and, with the tricks he learned during your childhood, formed an army of adorable corpse-scavenging Little Sisters.
