Pride and Prejudice and Zombies UK trailer brings the blood-soaked action

For years, the zombie apocalypse has given creatives inspiration to tell bleak tales of humanity's collapse and drench those stories in buckets of blood. Freshening up the formula is Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which now has a brand new UK trailer. The Burr Steers-directed movie is based on the literary mash-up novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, which can be summed up as follows: Jane Austen + flesh eaters = period splattergore.

The movie is a loose adaptation of Austen's original story that splinters off into a new direction once the undead saunter into view. It takes place during 19th century England, a time of corsets and afternoon strolls and old school wooing. Yes, Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy return to face the struggles of courtship while staving off the flesh-hungry hordes.

Originally conceived as more of a comedy -- in the same vein as the book -- the trailer showcases more of an action heroine vibe than a chucklesome caper. Who knows, perhaps all the jokes are being held back for the film's release? Pride and Prejudice and Zombies opens in the US on February 5, 2016 and in the UK on February 11.
