Doom Snapmap looks like a mod maker's dream

The new Doom will return to the series' mod-friendly roots with Doom Snapmap, an in-depth creative mode that lets players create and share their own stages across platforms.

Executive producer Marty Stratton introduced Snapmap as "a custom designed built in gateway to an endless amount of Doom experiences created by you," letting all players regardless of skill level create everything from old-school deathmatch maps to entirely new modes.

Snapmap's editing interface pays homage to the vector maps of the original Doom games, letting players drag and drop pre-made rooms represented by simple polygons then dive in to make tweaks. It'll be equally easy to share your creations with friends and the world - Stratton said Snapmap will let you publish with a single click to one central platform.
