It was the very first game in the US to ever carry a parental advisory warning. It was banned from all but the ballsiest arcades when it first came out in 1988. Splatterhouse is a legend for its breakthrough senseless gore, and now you'll be able to own it on your iPhone. Doesn't that just make you feel all warm and cuddly inside?
Above: A classic
News of a mobile port of the original arcade classic came as publisher Namco Bandai announced that the new Splatterhouse game for Xbox 360 and PS3 has gone gold. The console version will be a completely re-engineered remake of the original, and is due out next month.
The classic beat-em-up game puts players in the role of Rick, a student who finds himself trapped in a ghoulish mansion. He then goes on a mission to kill as many demons and monsters as possible as he makes his way through the nightmarish building to save his girlfriend. It's all so cliched, isn't it?

The mobile remake will be available on iPhone, Windows Mobile, Windows Phone 7, Blackberry, and generic Java/Brew platforms as well. An Android release has not been confirmed.
There's no specific release date announced for the mobile game, but expect it to come out around the time of the next-gen console remake, which is scheduled for November 23.
