A ten-step guide to videogame morphine
Ten games to mellow you out, with no risk of a drug bust
Endless Ocean
2007 | Nintendo | Wii
Endless Ocean is possibly the ultimate relaxing game out right now. It's got it all.
Dreamy, undersea visuals? Check. Open sandbox structure with no real obligation to do anything? Check. Relaxed objectives you can play any way you feel like, whenever you feel like? Check. Smiling dolphin best buddy? Check check check! There's even an option to just sit on a deck chair and look at the sea, with or without a musical accompaniment of your choice.
As the review rightly said, this is a game to be experenced rather than played, a place to spend an afternoon visiting rather than trying to conquer, and it's all the better for it. With mellow ambient environments and simple, smooth and intuitive Wii controls you won't even notice that there's nothing to shoot.

I wish Stellar Blade's New Game+ was added before my first playthrough, because it sounds like a whole new action RPG with 34 new outfits and a bigger skill tree
