The logo of this fan-made game alone is cooler than any sort of official project that Sega has ever attempted. In other words, we're already sold.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 HD is an ambitious idea from a group of die-hard Sonic fans. These are fans who just want what the rest of us have been asking for for years - a totally remade version of the classic 'Sonic 2' Genesis game.
We don't need fancy new power-ups, sidekicks, or missions. All we want is to see the game we grew to love rendered in the highest definition possible. But clearly, Sega's never going to do that.
It's not a totally new idea, and there are others working on similar projects. But the team behind this one, Sonic Retro, has just launched a newteaser website. In it, the words "Coming Soon" gleam across the screen atop a countdown timer, which should expire at approximately 1:00 AM on January 15, Eastern Time.
We don't know what it is. We're not quite sure what to expect. All we can say for sure is it'll be something better than the Sonic 2 remake we're getting from Sega. Because it's nonexistant. Did we say that already?
Anyway, check theteaser websiteagain on January 15 to see what the big fuss is all about.
