The Metal Gear Acid games onPSP might have had their merits but they lacked the mix of stealth and cunning that you'd normally associate with a Metal Gear Solid game. Fortunately those qualities are in abundance in Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops as is demonstrated in the gameplay footage up on the movies tab.
Portable Ops will undoubtedly be one of the most popular PSP games of next year as it will be the first time gamers will be able to take part in action similar to that which they're used to on PS2 - but on Sony's portable machine.
Gameplay consists of squad based action where gamers can choose to recruit new soldiers to form their own team. Just how this is done is demonstrated in the video which sees Snake carry a stunned opponent in a truck allowing the gamer a chance to convince them to join their side. Also, special bonus characters can be downloaded using WiFi.
Once a team is built up gamers can switch between characters and use their different skills to solve problems. This teamwork aspect can be seen in the video where one character distracts a guard with a girlie mag while another caps him with a sniper rifle.
Also seen in the video are numerous boss battles, a new stylish inventory system and the sonar radar which picks up noises made by opponents while indicating just how noisy you're being.
