Renee Zellweger gets Chilled In Miami

Despite dramas nabbing her Oscars, Renee Zellweger has always seemed more comfortable in comedies. She’s been busy starring in George Clooney’s American football flick Leatherheads and while she’s lined up Ed Harris’ Western Appaloosa as her next movie, she’s just started negotiating to star in Gold Circle Films’ Chilled In Miami.

Bug’s Harry Connick Jr is also circling a lead role in the film, which was previously lumbered with the title 32 And Single, and sees a Miami businesswoman used to the warmer climate transferred to the freezing territory of Minnesota. Hence the title, we think, though “Chilled In Miami” doesn’t exactly make sense with that plot description, so maybe it’ll change again.

Danish writer-director Jonas Elmer is ditching the “writer” part of his title for this, as he’ll just direct Ken Rance and C Jay Cox’s script starting this coming January in Miami and the Canadian city of Winnepeg, which will stand in for Minnesota and is presumably cheaper than shooting in the States. Oh, those tax-cut-loving Canadians...
