Doomsday: Last Survivors just got a titanic Godzilla x Kong crossover, and the King of Monsters is bringing the game's first-ever 3D Shelter skin

In the world of Doomsday: Last Survivors, safety is paramount. Survival means building strong walls to keep the outside world at bay, but what happens when danger comes from beneath those walls? What happens if you dig down to meet it head-on? Well – and I hate to be the one to break this – that's how you add Godzilla to your list of problems.
That's right: 2024's titanic punch-up flick Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire has made its way to Doomsday: Last Survivors, bringing with it a whole bunch of problems for Commanders who are already busy trying to build Shelters, survive, and fight back against the zombie apocalypse. But every cloud has a silver lining, and in this case delving deep beneath Earth's crust will result in a sprawl of rewards – including the games' first-ever 3D dynamic Shelter skin.
The bulk of the crossover takes place in the ongoing Godzilla: Battle of Dawn main event, which kicked off on August 1 and is set to run until September 30. That sounds like a generous window to play everything in, but in reality, there's a lot to tackle and even more to earn – so get busy.
During Explore Hollow Earth, we'll be using Probe Cores to – you guessed it – head below the Earth's surface. Players will need to upgrade their Probe Cores to make their ventures more efficient and increase the likelihood of snagging a reward, and I bring this one up first because it's got – in my eyes – the best reward going. Explore Hollow Earth brings a chance to unlock the 3D Dynamic Godzilla Shelter Skin, which besides capturing the kaiju chaos we know and love from the (questionable) comfort of your shelter, is Doomsday: Last Survivors' first 3D skin.
There's a few more aesthetic rewards on offer here – think Chat Emojis and Shelter Decorations but on the more practical side, there's also Biochemical Beast: [Kong] and the HEAV Craft Vehicle to snag. Speaking of snags, there's one more thing you should probably know: the deeper you explore the higher your chances of bumping into Godzilla, so don't say I didn't warn you.
Meanwhile, Titan Doomsday will let players spend Hollow Energy to draw rewards. The real catch here is the Colossal Titan Squad Skin, and the odds of pulling it will thankfully increase with each draw. That mercy rule extends to the rest of Titan Doomsday's rewards (which, like Explore Hollow Earth, include exclusive Chat Bubbles and Emojis), so given this is also up until September 30, it feels like we'll have plenty of time to hoover everything up.
Hollow Earth Battle, on the other hand, is set to run during mid-August and is a little more… Intense. When this kicks off, you'll be assigned to one of two surviving factions – the Pioneers and Fortifiers – and tasked with working with your new pals to defeat mutants (as if zombies weren't enough) and restore the Earth's core energy system. But – you may see a pattern here – the head-to-head eventually draws forth Godzilla and Shimo, who aren't best pleased at how Earth's being treated. Luckily we've skipped the part of Titan flicks where they smash up our cities before revealing their grander purpose, as Godzilla and Shimo are here to help fix our planet from the get-go.
Last but not least, we'll also have a two-parter Battle Pass and Titan Trials event. The Operation: Monarch Battle Pass will be available to work through between August 1 and August 31, offering another Shelter Decoration alongside more Chat Emojis, a Portrait Frame, and Tag. The first Titan Trials will also run during these dates, tasking players with clearing a board full of trials in exchange for more rewards.
Looking further ahead, the next Battle Pass (Behemoth's Legacy) and second Titan Trials board will be available from September 1 to September 30 with more rewards on offer. At this point, I'm going to thank IGG for making part of the event where you can snag goodies without running the risk of waking up Godzilla. Let the lizard nap, people!
Considering society has spent the last near-hundred years fawning over both kaiju and zombies, Doomsday: Godzilla x Kong seems like the best of two very different worlds. If you're reading all of this and don't already play Doomsday: Last Survivors, you can download it here for PC, GGP, and iOS respectively (just note that each of these links will automatically start a download). And if you are playing, the game's Facebook and Discord servers are a handy way of tracking the collaboration as it develops. And hey – just in case you bump into anything tall, green, and nuclear while exploring underground, maybe don't get too attached to your Probe Core?
