The first trailer for Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides has shored up online.
Splicing the Jack Sparrow intro screened at this year’s Comic-Con with a mountain of new footage, the trailer sets up the basic plot and introduces us to just about every character in the film – both old and new.
On Stranger Tides sees Jack coerced into joining a quest for the Fountain of Youth, and crossing paths with an old flame (Penelope Cruz) and her father – the fearsome Blackbeard (Ian McShane). Barbossa's also back, but whose side is he on this time?
Check out the trailer below…
Did you catch Keith Richards there? That’s a definite quash of rumours that Richards’ footage in the fourquel got dumped on the cutting room floor.
All in, this first trailer effectively has us going "Orlando and Keira who?" With those former stars out, and a new director at the helm in the form of Rob Marshall, this definitely feels like a fresh start for the franchise after its disappointing first two sequels.
Marshall in particular has effectively evoked the look and mood of the previous Pirates films, and On Stranger Tides certainly doesn’t seem to be pulling any punches. Is the franchise back on track? We'll raise a rum to that.
