Check out these expensive Nintendo items if you've got the cash to spare

Game Boy Micro (Mother 3 Special Edition gift set) - $172
Typical. You pay $172 for a special edition Micro with the paint scratched off the front. Not really, of course - this pocket marvel proves that Nintendo was doing “destroyed beauty” way before that Gears of War guy came up with the idea.

Snoopy Tabletop Game and Watch - $169
Another “watch” you’d have a hard time putting on your wrist, this 1983 treasure is a color-screened tabletop version of the G+W series with a red button rather disturbingly imploring you to “hit” stuff. Only four of these were made, the others being Mario’s Cement Factory, Popeye and perennial favorite Donkey Kong Jr.

Virtual Boy - $392
For a mere $392.48, you too can suffer permanent retinal damage with Gunpei Yokoi’s VR disasterpiece. Proving once more that hardcore gaming credentials beat ocular health every time, the Virtual Boy has become something of a collector’s item, and has a surprisingly large online following.

Japanese N64 & 64DD Limited Edition System - $1013
Yep, you too can own this uber-rarity - originally available only to members of Randnet (the N64 equivalent of Xbox Live or WiiConnect24). And if you fancy extending your mortgage even further, you can pick up games like Japan Pro Golf Tour 64 or Kyojin no Doshin 2 for a paltry $250+.

Aidyn Chronicles: The First Mage- $119
Developed by H2O Interactive - of amazing puzzler Tetrisphere fame - this ultra-old-school N64 RPG is now harder to find than white dog poo. Which is probably a good thing, as it’s only hardcore in the “traditional” sense, i.e. duller than a grey Piñata.

GBA SP Famicom Edition - $179
Released in Japan to commemorate the 20-year anniversary of the original Famicom, this little beauty was accompanied by the gasp-inducingly expensive (but utterly lovely) Famicom Mini series. Launched under the NES Classics banner, we didn’t get the nice boxes, and only 12 of the 30 Japanese titles made it to these shores. Bah.
