Elite Squad is another Brazilian crime film that Rockstar Games has name checked as an influence on Max Payne 3. This 2007 thriller tells the story the BOPE (Batalhão de Operações Policiais Especiais), a branch of Brazilian military police that grows corrupt. This fictional unit was the inspiration for the UFE (Unidade de Forças Especiais) that takes Max to task in some of the game’s most intense gunfights.
