Having paid his dues for years on telly with US sitcom The King Of Queens, Kevin James has been slowly creeping onto cinema screens. He appeared in Hitch with Will Smith and nabbed a co-starring role in I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry alongside Adam Sandler.
Now he’s ready to go it alone as a leading man, though don’t expect him to leap into heavy drama – he’s sticking with comedy. Mall Cop will see him as a quiet, unassuming shopping centre security guard pushed into action when his workplace is taken over by well-organised thieves.
James has penned the script with Nick Bakay and is now in search of a director. Oh, and he has the producing clout of his old Chuck mucker Sandler behind the scenes, which should help with the search.
Looks like Kevin Smith will finally have to retire the dream of Mallrats 2: Die Hard In A Mall…
