So does Secret Rings represent a change in direction for Sonic and his future?
Ogawa: Whether or not we will change the direction for Sonic titles will depend on whether this title sells. For example, Capcom made the first three games in the Biohazard (or Resident Evil) series similar, but then the fourth one was completely different. So we could change the direction of Sonic.
If Secret Rings sells well then that may change the direction of future titles, but we will of course continue to make Sonic Adventure games as well.
Now Sonic Team has finished Secret Rings and the mascot has made his Wii debut, the Sonic Team must now be thinking about their next Wii project, right?
Ogawa: We currently do not have any specific plans for the next Sonic game on Wii, but Sonic exists because he has a lot of fans, and that support is the reason Sonic is still here today.
If there are more voices asking for another Sonic title on Wii, we will work on it. But there are currently no specific plans.
