The BenQ X3100i has long reigned over the PS5 projector world, but its $2,000+ MSRP has never shifted into the next price bracket. Amazon's just changed all that, though, dropping the 4K thrower down to its lowest rate yet.
The best projector for gaming is now down to $1,799 on these shelves, an impressive $600 discount from its original $2,399 starting position. I've been watching this one for a while now, it never drops below $2,199. Not only is this the cheapest the X3100i has been, it's also $400 off the previous record. Excellent news for anyone building a PS5 setup for the even-bigger screen this Spring.
With $600 off the final price, the BenQ X3100i is down to its lowest price ever at Amazon, and I've never seen this position before. This 4K thrower is at the top of its game, but it's only ever shifted its $2,399 MSRP down to $2,199 in the past. We're a whole $400 below the previous record here.
Buy it if:
✅ A 4K resolution is a priority
✅ You don't want to sacrifice speed
✅ You also want to stream content
Don't buy it if:
❌ You're aiming for full 4K 120Hz

I called this thrower a "gamer's best friend" in my BenQ X3100i review, a 4K image that absolutely glows with anything from the muddy browns of Assassin's Creed: Mirage to the vibrant worlds of Astro Bot. It's my go-to pairing with the PS5, offering low-latency UHD resolutions at far faster speeds than more streaming-focused models.
Setup is a little more involved than most cheap lifestyle projectors. Automatic keystoning is going to give you an easy-out for that initial picture angling, though it does drop the image quality. To get the best picture I'd recommend spending some time digging around the menus yourself, but there are also physical zoom and focus dials for easy manual control and a handy lens shift option for trickier placements.
You won't need to turn those picture dials too much if you don't want to, though. I found picture quality to be pretty excellent straight out of the box.
Speed is the key measure here, though. The BenQ W4100i (currently $2,799 at Amazon) will offer up slightly better color impact but drops your latencies down to 13ms in 1080p and 17.9ms in 4K. The X3100i sneaks into the lead at 4.2ms FHD and 16.7ms UHD. Those are some of the fastest speeds I've tested in the world of gaming projectors.
Competitive players will still need to drop their resolution to get the lowest latencies possible, but for all-round gameplay the BenQ X3100i feels light, zippy, and reactive. You won't find that on more streaming-focused devices.
You'll find plenty more of the best projectors for PS5 elsewhere, or check out the best gaming TVs and best gaming monitors for something a little smaller.
