Switch games have been able to run on the Nintendo Switch 2 since day one, but they haven't always looked the best in handheld mode. Blowing up the older games' 720p resolutions on the 1080p display left some titles looking blurry and indistinct, but now that 'Handheld Mode Boost' is here with update Ver. 22.0.0, that issue is long gone.
This new mode allows these games to run at a higher resolution in handheld mode, basically doing the dock's handiwork but for players on the go. That means there's no better time to grab some cheap Nintendo Switch game deals, like Pokemon Legends Arceus at $46.99 at Woot today. It's now $13 off thanks to Woot, and just $1 away from a record low, and there's more older Switch game discounts where it came from. Pokemon Scarlet is down to $4499 (Woot), and the Super Mario Galaxy & Galaxy 2 collection is $54.99 at Woot today too.
Amazon's Woot has dropped $13 off Pokemon Legends Arceus, bringing its full $59.99 MSRP down to $46.99. While that saving may seem little, the legendary Pokemon game is now only $1 away from its record low price. If you want to experience one of the best modern Pokemon games in the new handheld mode boost, this is a great place to start.

If you're in a Pokemon mood, you can grab Pokemon Scarlet for just $44.99 at Woot today. You're not only saving $15 off the last mainline game in the series, but also grabbing it for a record-low price. There's no better time to explore Paldea and put handheld mode boost to work.

Thanks to Woot, you can also grab Super Mario Galaxy 1 & 2 for $15 off, which is the lowest I've ever spotted for the set of iconic Wii games. Not only is this saving ideal for showcasing the handheld mode boost, but it's perfect for learning all about the games ahead of the Super Mario Galaxy Movie release next month.

Having clarity and a non-blurry screen in Ultimate is a must to get one up over your opponent, and ideal for testing out the new handheld mode boost - especially now it's down to a record low $46.99 at Woot. Just remember, while you're saving $13 off here, you'll still need to grab its DLC to grab its massive full character roster.

Talking of much older releases, Yoshi's Crafted World launched back in 2019 and hasn't yet seen a Switch 2 Edition of any kind. That makes it ideal for testing out in the new handheld mode boost, as does this $13 off savings at Woot today.

Today's Woot saving on this incredibly cute Legend of Zelda adventure isn't a record low by any means, but it is one of the better deals going around right now. While other notable US retailers have it close to full price, you can save $13 off Zelda's first official big outing, and see what the fuss is about on your Switch 2.

Mario and Luigi Brothership launched just before the Nintendo Switch 2, so it's bound to have been missed by many fans. If that's the case for you, it's now down to $44.99 at Woot. It's not a record low, but with handheld mode boost, it does mean you can do some leveling grinding on the go with it looking its absolute best - and save a little in the process.

Ever since I first held a NES controller in my hand I've been obsessed with gaming, and the hardware it runs on. I could hook up a NES and SNES to a telly, without instructions, before I could walk. Even now, nothing is more exciting then taking a console, or handheld, out the box for the first time and setting it up. This obsession transformed into a love of games and game music, which lead to my music degree and dream of becoming the Scottish Nobuo Uematsu. After sharing my love of games through music, I began to share my love through words on sites like TechRadar and iMore. This lead to becoming a Hardware staff writer for PCGamesN, and later the Senior Tech Writer for Dexerto, covering all things Steam Deck, PlayStation and Nintendo. With that experience, I was able to level up as Hardware Editor for GamesRadar+, where I'm still just as Nintendo, PlayStation and gaming tech obsessed as ever.
