In issue 219 of Total Film magazine , we go on the Hawaii set of upcoming monster epic Godzilla .
Inside the issue - which is available for just £1.99 on your iPad (opens in new tab) - we chatted with director Gareth Edwards about taking on the giant lizard – and how he made his reboot just as much of a drama as a monster movie.
"It's given when you've got Godzilla that you're gonna have this giant, crazy spectacle," he tells Total Film.
"But to me, the carnage and desutrction are utterly pointless unless you care about the outcome, and you care about the people. It was like, 'Let's treat this like a really serious drama,' so I had to get the best actors."
Godzilla is out in cinemas on 16 May.
