The best Pokemon Champions Pokemon
The following Pokemon are currently some of the best and most powerful options in Pokemon Champions, for reason's we'll explain individually further down.
- Garchomp
- Gardevoir
- Dragonite
- Charizard
- Archaludon
Garchomp
Garchomp is by far one of the best Pokemon in Pokemon Champions, and, as a result, you'll see it a lot in enemy teams. That doesn't mean you shouldn't bring one of your own into battle, though.
Article continues belowIn Doubles matches, Earthquake is one of the best moves to have on Garchomp, but since this even damages ally Pokemon, consider who you pair it with. For singles (and doubles) train Garchomp in a wide range of move types, including Ground, Rock, and Dragon.
Finally, be sure to utilize Garchomp's Rough Skin Ability, which damages any Pokemon that inflicts damage unto them.
Gardevoir
Gardevoir might seem like a strange choice, but in the first hours of Pokemon Champions' release, it quickly became one of the most-used Pokemon globally. The reason for this is Garchomp's position as a firm favorite, and Gardevoir's resisitance to dragon types.
A trick we've found with Gardevoir (again, in Doubles) is to give it the Telepathy Ability, which prevents it from being damaged by an ally's attack (like Earthquake). In Singles or Doubles, be sure to have Gardevoir learn a water move, making it super effective against both Garchomp (Ground) and Charizard (Fire).

Dragonite
Dragonite is one of our favorite options as both a great normal Pokemon and an excellent Mega Pokemon. It's very hardy, and flying types are quite resilient to most of the moves you'll see in Pokemon Champions. Meanwhile, it's Dragon-type moves are of course great against opposing Garchomp and Dragonite. Just make sure it's Speed is as high as possible, and you've got a good chance of getting in early with most moves.
Speaking of Speed, I recommend popping Extreme Speed on your Dragonite as a spare move, as you'll often find that enemy Pokemon use items to stay alive for one more round or have just enough HP to survive your attacks. Speed often makes the difference between winning and losing, so if you've got an opposing Pokemon with a few HP remaining, this quick move that usually goes first is a great way to take them out fast.
The other reason we love Dragonite is its resistance to Earthquake, which is hugely important in Double Battles. Pair Dragonite with Garchomp, and they won't be affected by their teammate's move. Plus, if your enemy is trying to use Earthquake, you're in luck.
Charizard
While I have mentioned that Dragonite is a great consideration for Mega Evolution, there is another, more obvious choice: the iconic Mega Charizard Y. As a flying type, Charizard has many of the same benefits as Dragonite, Fire types are also pretty effective against a few types. Just be careful, as Charizard is going to be weak to a lot of the popular moves in Pokemon Champions. Ensure they're powered up and have the Drought ability, which increases the power of fire type moves.
Archaludon
Archaludon is an incredibly strong defensive Pokemon, and can withstand some serious attack. Since it also has a wide pool of moves to choose from as well, it can be an incredibly decent pick, especially as a staller in Single Battle mode. That said, do check its stats and alignment and ensure you increase its attack power, as it is a weak attacker. You can always use Held Items to boost its attack further.
Sadly, Archaludon is only available in the Pokemon Scarlet and Violet DLC the Indigo Disk, meaning it's quite rare, and if you don't already have one, or someone to get one from, your only chance is getting lucky in the daily Pokemon Champions Recruitment area. If you do draw an Archaludon, be careful not to recruit it temporarily, recruiting it permanently is worth the cost.
