So it begins – GTA 6 already has companies taking the day off for Rockstar's big release as "several" employees "will be unavailable, unreachable, and/or 'in Vice City'"
Burger Motorsports is likely only the first of many
As if GTA 6 wasn't already causing enough of a disruption in the video game industry this fall (you know, with all the developers and publishers hoping to avoid Rockstar's massive release), it appears its launch will impact other industries, too.
What industries might those be? Well, the automotive industry comes to mind – because, erm, why not.
In a new online post, Burger Motorsports explains that it'll undergo a company-wide closure this November… thanks to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, of course. Yes, it's real, and it's as amusing as it sounds.
The announcement reads that "Burger Motorsports will be observing a temporary company-wide operational pause on Thursday, November 19, 2026."
It continues: "After reviewing multiple employee scheduling conflicts, management has determined that normal business operations may be impacted due to the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. Several team members have already notified management that they will be unavailable, unreachable, and/or 'in Vice City' for the duration of the day."
A completely understandable disruption in services, if you ask me… and totally necessary.

When will the chaos end, though? Burger Motorsports has an answer. "Normal business operations are expected to resume once employees have completed their initial exploration, finished at least one mission, and returned to reality," according to the company – and no, the team is not sorry, but it does "appreciate your patience and understanding during this unprecedented cultural event."
Yep… cultural event, y'all.
GTA 6 is so big that its launch is now being described as a cultural event. I mean, I can't say I'm all that surprised – heck, folks have been waiting over a decade for Rockstar's next game, after all.
Comments see fans finding humor in Burger Motorsports' upcoming day (or week?) off, with one joking, "We got a GTA 6 holiday before GTA 6." Another adds, "W company." I can even see people who (presumably) work there celebrating.
So, there you have it – the GTA 6 release isn't only having an impact on new games and their creators' planned launches… it has also apparently reached the car industry. Where will it go next? I suppose we've still got five months to find out.
