Hell freezes over in Doom: The Dark Ages - Revelations, the shooter's first expansion coming this July
With a sick new spear
Doom: The Dark Ages' first big expansion is officially called (cold) Revelations, a snowy trek that gives Doomguy a sick-looking spear to further juggle demons and, as a jolly frozen departure from the blistering heat of summer, it's coming out in July. Developer id Software's also releasing a free update on the same day with a bunch of improvements.
Bethesda released the first trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations during tonight's Xbox Games Showcase, and the publisher is "unleashing a brutal new chapter of the Slayer's saga on July 7" across all platforms the game's already available on – PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5.
"Featuring new levels with deeper puzzles, new demons and new mysteries, Revelations also adds new dimensions to combat with the deadly Chain Spear, offering returning Slayers a uniquely satisfying combat system that rewards mastery with a potent combination of power and mobility," the publisher writes in a recent blog post.
We're also getting a bigger, longer look at Doom Slayer's full face, which sort of feels wrong in the same way seeing a dog without its collars does, but it makes sense considering Revelations promises to be a more lore-heavy adventure.
As for the free Ripatorium 3.0 update that's also launching July 7, id Software is adding "deeper customization, improved pass code generation, and personal preset options to the game’s customizable arena challenge mode." Players who buy the Revelations expansion will get three new maps, demons, and access to fully upgraded weapons to use in the Ripatorium, as long as you've completed the main campaign.
Revelations costs $19.99. Base game owners can also upgrade to the Premium Edition to get access to the DLC for $34.99.
Here's everything announced at Summer Game Fest 2026.
