Damon and Baby is a cute but tough RPG shooter from the last developer you'd expect to be making one
You're a demon bound to a baby by a curse - Time to solve this problem the only way you know how: shooting everything
You've probably heard of Arc System Works from games like Guilty Gear, BlazBlue and River City. Obviously, the next step for a studio famous for fighting games is an adorably cute open world RPG shooter about a demon and baby exploring and adventuring together. Now, what to call it...?
The demon in question is Lord Damon, entrusted with a mysterious child as last request of a dead friend. Together this unusual pair must strike out on a journey to break the curse that binds them together, in a top-down shooter that mixes exploration, strategy and customisation.
There's a hint of things like Death's Door and other top down action adventures to Damon and Baby. It's all about exploring the world to progress your character and the story. Playing as the Damon you split your time between exploring and surviving what the world throws, and then returning home to cash in and level up.
Out in the world you'll need to master the game's highly technical twin-stick shooting as you fight enemies and explore to complete each area. That will see you gather an array of weapons and gimmicks to fight creatures and bosses. It's about more than just blasting, with strategy a key part of mastering battle mechanics that blend together close range combat and distance attacks with the different gimmicks you'll need to survive and evade danger.
When you're not out fighting and exploring you'll be back at your home base, where you can you then can power Damon up, customise skills, and buy other things to help you master the various weapons you find. And you can tweak how you look with a load of outfits to get the fit just how you want.
And, if the whole demon and baby thing wasn't cute already, there's two player local co-op that will see you playing with a friend who can control Damon's dog - helping him in combat and by collecting useful items.
If all that sounds like your jam then Damon and Baby is coming to Steam, PS5, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on March 26! There's a demo coming soon and if you pre-order the game now there's a 10% early purchase discount!
