After playing across 19 cities in China, the Black Myth: Wukong Global Tour just completed its momentous North American Tour.

With the game's impressive soundtrack taking to the stage in Los Angeles' Peacock Theatre, and New York's iconic Carnegie Hall this month, the game has taken another Journey to the West.

Black Myth: Wukong effectively acts as an unofficial sequel to the classic Chinese novel, Journey to the West, following the story of the Destined One. He is a young monkey who's been tasked with resurrecting the Monkey King, Sun Wukong, by recovering shattered relics.

But now, the game has taken another Journey to the West by travelling from China to the US with its music tour. With its Los Angeles debut, Black Myth: Wukong's music played out on one of the largest stages in the US, famous for hosting premier music events and televised awards shows. And then travelling to New York, the Destined One's story rang through Carnegie Hall, known for being one of the most prestigious music venues in the world.

Black Myth: Wukong's capacity to continue to evolve after launch proves its position as a major AAA game, moving from a more strict gameplay experience to a cultural experience.

Its blend of classical Chinese instruments from throughout history with Western orchestra has also meant that fans of Chinese music and culture have also made their way to listen to Black Myth: Wukong's music in these American stadiums, creating an audience that is just as diverse as Black Myth: Wukong's score and gameplay.

Being part of that audience was an incredible feeling, hearing the music bring the Destined One's epic journey to life with such intensity and passion, set against the backdrop of the game's diverse cutscenes and gameplay. Seeing the traditional Chinese instruments played live was a particular highlight, especially as instrumentalist Liang Xi had put so much effort into her makeup and hair to mimic the Destined One - even down to the staff-inspired hairpin.

The end of this particular journey of the Black Myth: Wukong Global Tour has been a pivotal point for the IP post-launch, building a bigger, broader community for the Destined One's story. This Chinese action game has already been such a success story since launch, from being the most wishlisted game on Steam to launching critical acclaim, and then going on to win multiple awards and being nominated for many more. The Global Concert is just another step on the IP's expansion path and flourishing quest to make it bigger than video games alone.
