Why Combat defines Titan Quest 2
Forge your legend by combining Masteries to develop unique builds that perfectly complement your playstyle in combat
Titan Quest 2 is an action RPG inspired by Greek mythology, set in a world where Nemesis, the Goddess of Retribution, is spreading corruption and damning anyone who stands in her way to Eternal Punishment. In order to stop Nemesis and free those she has cursed, you'll need to fight alongside gods and defeat tough enemies as you explore your way through a campaign filled with mysteries and legends.
A flexible character system sits at the core of Titan Quest 2, where you are fully in control of customizing your build to best suit your playstyle. This system is based on Masteries, which are individual skill trees offering various abilities and attributes, however what stands it apart is that you can choose two different Masteries to combine.
This allows you to pick and choose skills from two separate disciplines, to specialize your build and experiment with unique interactions to find what works best for you in combat. Whether you're looking for a melee tank, a ranged caster, or something completely different from your build, there will be a mix of skills that match your style, and you're free to respec your points while you experiment – though this will cost you Gold.
Combat is based around core action RPG mechanics, with players maintaining their Energy resource which is consumed by actions such as performing skills or casting spells, while making sure their Health doesn't drop too low. Both of these can be adapted through your Masteries, either increasing their available total or recovery rate, while skills used to damage enemies can have Modifiers applied to alter how they perform.
Players also have access to Summons, which are tied to Masteries meaning you can have two of them available together. These Summons require a portion of your Energy to keep active, but they give you a choice of either a Passive or Active playstyle when using them. Taking the Passive approach means you can stand back and let your Summons do most of the work in combat while you provide support, or with Active playstyles you can manually trigger abilities on your Summons so they boost each other.
However, don't expect to just click your way through each encounter, as Titan Quest 2 offers a challenging action RPG combat experience which is designed to test you. The enemies you face are intelligent and can join forces to form factions, creating unique combinations of their skills and abilities that you'll need to find ways to deal with. Dig deep into your own character build and find the right combination of skills, so you can eliminate any foes that try to stand in the way of your ultimate destiny.
Titan Quest 2 is currently available in Steam Early Access, and is scheduled for a full release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X on January 19, 2027. You can pre-order Titan Quest 2 now on consoles to get the Cosmic Turtle Companion DLC for free.
