Prison of Husks brings its Dark Souls meets Ico challenge to PS5 in a new trailer full of bosses that are going to kill you so much
Explore a painted afterlife in search of your beloved in this challenging Souls-like with a PS2 sheen
Prison of Husks announced a PS5 release at the Future Games Show Summer Showcase, with a new trailer showing off its Soulsbourne meets Ico vibes. The new footage also gave us a good look at some of the unique bosses you can expect to die to repeatedly, as you fight to survive the challenges ahead.
This is a single-player soulslike game, channelling both the dense, interconnected design of early Dark Souls games, and the visual style of Fumito Ueda - the creative mind behind Ico, Shadow of the Colossus and The Last Guardian.
In this world you Awaken as a doll, lost in a painted afterlife in search of your beloved. Know as Lithos Plateau, this once-heavenly place is now little more than desolate landscape, crumbling beneath your feet. This is a compact and densely designed environment full of shortcuts and interconnecting pathways to discover, as you explore and battle bosses in whatever order you see fit, all as you attempt to uncover what happened the painter that created it all, and locate your lost love.
This is a challenging world though, as you'd hope from a soulsllike. You'll need to actively engage in combat to boost your damage, while parrying to claw back your stamina. It's a hat tip to Bloodborne for good measure, creating a combat system that encourages you to keep in the fight to stay alive. There's an array of weapons to choose from and master, from swords to pistols and, as you battle, you'll also be able to modify your build with Rings and Brooches to optimise your build.
Prison of Husks will be unleashing its etherial dangers on PC, and now PS5, in the near future. Wishlist the game on Steam or find out more here.
