Scott Derrickson, the director behind The Exorcism of Emily Rose and the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still , is set to helm a new take on biblical tale 'David vs Goliath'.
Heat Vision Blog reported the news, and stated that the film will be 'a period action movie made with contemporary sensibilities', singling out 300 and The Bourne Identity as reference points.
You probably know the bare bones of the story: little guy David, the future king of the Israelites, has to defend himself against the giant Goliath, who is sent to hunt him down.
Derrickson'll have to beef up the story to make it fill a feature film, and no doubt the producers are planning to include a lot more action than just the signature slingshot scene.
Let's hope Derrickson comes up with something more along the lines of the tense, subtle, inventive chiller Emily Rose , rather than the bogstandard Hollywood remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still .
Heat Vision also reports that Derrickson is still attached to direct sci-fi movie The Substitute , for Sam Raimi's Ghost House production company.
