The Boys season 5 has kicked off on Prime Video and it proves that no one is safe in the superhero show's final episodes. Now, before we get too far into that, take this as your official spoiler warning as we're about to discuss a major moment from the series premiere.
If you're still reading then you'll know that A-Train is the first big casualty of the final season. The Supe speedster defected from team Homelander back in season 4 and has been helping Starlight out with the rebellion since.
In the season premiere, he returns to help Billy Butcher, Kimiko and Annie free Frenchie, Mother's Milk and Hughie from the Freedom Camp. However, Homelander is waiting for them and after A-Train gets an epic Quicksilver-style moment, he leads the maniacal blonde Supe after him.
Article continues belowHe almost gets away too, but when he spots a woman crossing the street in his path, he diverts course. It's a split second decision that ultimately leads to Homelander catching up with him and snapping his neck.
But more than proving A-Train's redemption arc, it's a moment that calls back to his first ever scene in The Boys. Back in the show's premiere, Hughie is crossing the street with his girlfriend Robin when A-Train ploughs through her, killing her brutally and leaving Hughie simply holding her lifeless hands.
History doesn't repeat itself here, and it's a beautiful representation of how far A-Train has come in the superhero series. It's also one that fans have been loving with some branding it "perfect" and a "full circle" moment for the character.
"Fucks sake man. Great episode," wrote one fan on Reddit. "A Train started off from accidentally killing Robin while running, only for him to ultimately die this episode because he didn’t want to it again to another person. Great storytelling."

Another reflected: "A-train saved his family, saved Hughie, redeemed himself from episode 1 by sacrificing himself to avoid running into a random woman and laughed at death by Homelander right in the face. A-Train, welcome to the speedster hall of fame."
"They perfected A-Train's arc but I’m so sad," a third commented. "But him saving Hughie and dying because he refused to run over a random woman, he went full circle."
"A-Train dodging the woman, a full circle. Worthy finish to a great character arc," another posted on Reddit.
A-Train may be first, but we're expecting plenty more bloodshed to come in the final season of The Boys. The show will be airing weekly on Prime Video right up until May 20. Check out our guide to The Boys season 5 release schedule so you don't miss a moment.
