Supergirl director says the new movie will "thoroughly investigate" Krypton and Kara's home Argo City: "It's so fundamental to who she is as a person"

Like her cousin Kal-El/Superman, Kara Zor-El is one of the few survivors of the destruction of Krypton, an origin story that will have a big impact on the plot of this summer's Supergirl film. Kara has her own history with Kryptonian society that is far different from Superman's, having grown into a young woman before the planet was destroyed, and those differences will be key for her journey in the movie.

"We do really thoroughly investigate Argo [the city where Supergirl was born] and Krypton," Supergirl director Craig Gillespie tells EW. "It's so fundamental to who she is as a person and what she goes through in her formative years there. It makes you understand why she is where she is with her personality and the self-destructive nature that she has as we meet her at the beginning of the film."
