The artist formally known as Marky Mark And The Funky Bunch (or Mark Wahlberg to his agent) has been discussing The Departed with ACESHOWBIZ , and he has some good news for us all – Martin Scorsese may be creating his first franchise, with two new movies in the development stage.
“We may do another one, because it's based on a Hong Kong film, and there is a trilogy,” Wahlberg postulated. “So we may do a sequel with a new cast, and a prequel and bring back the rest of the guys.”
That might seem a little vague – but Wahlberg weighed in with some firmer facts, which is one of the reasons we like him so much.
“They’re talking to Robert De Niro and a couple of other people,” he said. “Anybody who is anybody wants to work with Marty.”
So, not one but two new Infernal Affairs remakes, with at least one offering the opportunity to see De Niro back with Marty?
To paraphrase Wahlberg’s old band, this is giving us both good vibrations and sweet sensations. Which is lovely.
