“You’re either one of two things in this world,” Denzel Washington growls in this first American Gangster trailer, “You’re either somebody or nobody…” Washington in this case is Frank Lucas, a real-life criminal overlord who smuggled heroin in the US in the coffins of dead Vietnam troops, while also being a loving family man.
It’s also the story of Detective Richie Roberts (Russell Crowe) the man who swore to take him down. The idea of two Oscar grabbers going toe to toe under the guidance of Sir Rid was always an attractive idea, and now we get to see the first footage.
With the likes of Chiwetel Ejiofor, Josh Brolin and Cuba Gooding Jr also cropping up, American Gangster arrives here in November, but you can check out the moody trailer right here .
