Resident Evil Chronicles titles getting HD PS3 port

When it became clear the Wii wasn’t the graphics workhorse of its rivals, some enterprising publishers decided to try and sidestep the issue by making light gun, on-rails shooters for their franchises. Wii players were got House of the Dead: Overkill, Dead Space Extraction and the Resident Evil Chronicles games which were me with moderate success at best. Now RE is following those other M-rated shooters to the PS3 after Capcom revealed plans to port both Wii titles to the PS3 in one arcade bundle.

Capcom’s taking the former Wii-exclusives Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: Darkside Chronicles and will combine them into a single PlayStation 3 game with Move support obviously replacing the Wii’s controller input. Umbrella Chronicles was a modest success, and when we reviewed Darkside we thought it was shallow fun that at least was worth a rental for RE fans. This follows Capcom’s recent successful HD-ifiying of RE4 and Code Veronica, and though it has been only been announced for Japan so far, we’d be very surprised if this one didn’t get an international release.
