Lie down with dogs...

Controversial low-budget sex comedy Stay has reason to wag its tail this morning. the film, directed by Bobcat Goldthwait – best known as the loveable punk cop from the Police Academy films – opens with a college girl (Melinda Page Hamilton) admitting that she’s performed oral sex on her dog. And events develop from there. Still, the fact that this’ll be a distinctly tough sell (helloooo, heartland America), hasn’t turned off French company Gaumont, which coughed up an undisclosed sum to buy the film.

And a film based on the world’s most stupid deaths – The Darwin Awards – has also found a home at Sundance. The film, which stars Joseph Fiennes, Winona Ryder and the recently deceased Chris Penn in one of his final roles, was purchased by Bauer Martinez.
