Normally I'd put some introductory text before a trailer, but not this time. Because this time, we get the Assassin's Creed trailer I think many of us wanted from the beginning, and I wanted you to see it right away.
This time, we get a clear explanation of what's happening with the plot, we're properly introduced to Jeremy Irons - one of the best villain actors of all time - complete with world domination monologue, and there's no Kanye West to distract from all that beautiful 15th century architecture and costume design.
We still won't know if Assassin's Creed will be the first great video game movie, but I would say this trailer, more than any other, gives me hope.
Directed by Justin Kurzel and starring Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Ariane Labed, Michael K. Williams, Jeremy Irons, and Brendan Gleeson, Assassin's Creed opens in US theatres on December 21, 2016 before being released in UK cinemas on January 1, 2017.
