Now that she’s been mixing up the likes of The Princess Diaries with weightier fare such as Brokeback Mountain, you might think that Anne Hathaway was drawing away from her comedy roots.
But with a role as Agent 99 in the Get Smart film alongside Steve Carell and now the announcement that she’s signed on opposite Kate Hudson in Bride Wars, it looks like she’s sticking with the laugh genre for now.
She’ll play Hudson’s best friend, who finds herself in conflict with her when their wedding dates clash. They do battle over guests, cakes, venues and caterers.
Gary Winick has signed on to direct – and referee – with 20th Century Fox making sure everything goes with plenty of hitches. It’ll start shooting early next year, thanks to boasting a pre-strike finished script.
