XCOM developer goes undercover as a store clerk to sell his game to the public. Hilarity ensues

It would appear that XCOM: Enemy Unknown is not an easy sell in today's climate. Strategy games (even great ones) are rarely best-sellers on current-gen consoles... probably because they haven't got the words 'Call of Duty' in the title. So it's funny but also a little sad to watch XCOM: Enemy Unknown's lead Designer, Jake Solomon, try to sell his new game to the public by posing as a store clerk in a Maryland game store. But mainly funny.

Our favourite bit? The part where he's explaining about it affecting you 'it's this' and then also 'it's this', pointing to his heart with incredible deadpan sincerity. Classic. Although he's not lying - everything he's saying about the game is true, as backed up by our own Dave Houghton in the GamesRadar UK Podcast.

Look out for our review of XCOM: Enemy Unknown very soon. The game is out on October 12 in the UK (Oct 9 in the US), so not long to wait now. It should be good. Definitely worth playing in a traffic jam.*

Hahahaha, he has such a fun personality. Why don't developers do more things like this? =)

He could be strangling kittens and he still could not convince me to buy the garbage that is XCOM.

Are you talking about the strategy game, or the FPS?

    Your loss.

Genuinely funny! Good to see strong personalities in the games industry. "Your troops are dying, you feel terrible...sound like a good time?"

Alright, that Jake Solomon guy was incredibly funny. Points to him.

He reminds me of Dane Cook mixed with Cliffy B. I hate both of those people, but strangely I like this Solomon fella.

Brilliant :D It love it when companies have senses of humour like this. Big publishers could learn a lot from stuff like this- it's the little things that really make people wanna buy their games.

Funnily enough this reminds me of Rare in the 90s when they would take the piss out of their own game in their manuals!
