Horror slash 'em-up Splatterhouse to return

Namco reviving the arcade classic

News has broken on Namco's plan to revive Splatterhouse, the horror slash-'em-up/beat-'em-up that originally appeared in the arcades in the late 1980s.

Unfortunately there's no concrete details as yet, but 1UP describes it as a "next-gen resurrection" of the series, with first details being disclosed in the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly - so expect info to hit the web imminently.

The original Splatterhouse was a side-scrolling horror and violence-fest and is considered the catalyst for the birth of survival horror genre that we know today.

So will the new Splatterhouse tread down the Resident Evil road? We'll have to wait and see.
