Next week there is Pirates vs. Ninja Dodgeball and Shred Nebula and RocketBowl is set to release on Wednesday 10th September. There's also some Castle Crashers content including a rather nice theme, available to download for free and various themes and trailers.

UK Video Game Chart: MGS4 knocked off the top (News)

Chart Track reports that Metal Gear Solid 4 has lost its place at the top of the All Formats All Prices UK video game chart after only one week at No.1. It's Activision's LEGO Indiana Jones which returns to the top for a second week.

Atari's Alone in the Dark debuts at No.3, and is followed by GTA 4 at No.4 and Wii Play at No.5. Other new entries include Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII at No.10, Top Spin 3 at No.12 and Cooking Guide at No.19.

"Sports games are often considered one of the most mainstream game genres, and yet most truly deep sports titles are as difficult to master as even the most hardcore shooter, fighter or RPG. This is particularly true of 2K Sports' much-admired Top Spin series, which is for hardcore tennis fans what Madden is to ravening sports fans. The controls traditionally have a steep learning curve, but fans of the games would staunchly defend its realism, deep online play, and create-a-player options against the more accessible but arcadey action of a Virtua Tennis 3. If you enjoyed Top Spin 2, there's not much point in reading this preview; you're probably already buying Top Spin 3 regardless of what I say. Those of you who aren't hardcore tennis fans but may still be curious, perhaps after spending quality time with Virtua Tennis 3, read on.

If you've never played a Top Spin game before, then your first stop when you fire up the game needs to be the Top Spin School. This is a series of challenging tutorials that walk you both through the basic controls, and fairly advanced applications of those controls. The basic tutorial covers serving, returning and even volleys. It's not enough to successfully hit the ball (though that's where the tutorial starts). After introducing a mechanic, the game expects you to be able to serve, return or volley such that you hit a specific area of the court. This will seem impossible at first, since the game merely lets you know that you can hit the ball or serve by pressing and releasing the A, B or X buttons. What isn't made clear is that each of these buttons represents a different kind of swing. Later in the tutorial, it's explained that A is used for flat shots, X for slices, and B for lifts. In addition, you can drop shot or lob by using Y in combination with the left analog stick."

Having now gone gold on all platforms (Wii, PS3, 360 and DS), the game is on track to hit shops in US on June 24, while a UK release is set for June 20.

Xbox360Achievements.org have just released the achievements for the upcoming Top Spin 3 title, published by 2K Sports.

The game has 41 achievements totaling 1000 points and despite the lack of effort in the achievement tiles, the list seems more thought out than its predecessor's.

ImageMetrics Facial Animation Tapped For UT3, GTA IV (News)

Animation software company Image Metrics has revealed that its proprietary facial animation solution was used to animate characters in games including 2K Games' Top Spin 3, Epic's Unreal Tournament 3, and Rockstar's Midnight Club Los Angeles and Grand Theft Auto IV.

The company says its animation solution animates faces without the need for markers or makeup, and is able to translate human movement onto the faces of game characters.

2K Games and 2K Sports have just revealed their lineup for the show, and according to Kotaku, the Games folks definitely have the edge here. They'll be showing the intriguing new shooter from Gearbox, Borderlands, as well as Sid Meier's Civilization Revolution, the first Civ game created solely for consoles and handhelds. The Sports team will be showing off Top Spin 3, NBA 2K8 and NHL 2k8. Their press release also indicates that "two new and unannounced games from established and popular brands" will be revealed for the very first time at the show, so keep your browser tuned to Kotaku for details as soon as we get them! 2K Sports serves up Top Spin 3 for Xbox 360 and PS3 (News)

2K Sports just announced at E3 that their internal development studio PAM Development is working on a new installment in the Top Spin franchise. Top Spin 3 will be released in Spring 2008 for both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. Top Spin 3 will feature some new gameplay mechanics, as well as the ability to modify your character.

Additional details on the game haven't been given, but 2K Sports did release the first three images of the game. Expect more details and media in the coming days.
