Age Of Conan developer Funcom will reportedly cut 20 per cent of its workforce and delay the release of its new PC and Xbox 360 MMO, The Secret World, by several months.

The news was revealed in a stock exchange announcement on Tuesday, according to a Google translation of an E24 report. The site said that the Norwegian developer's stock fell 18 per cent following the announcement.

Founded in 1993, Funcom currently employs over 320 staff across its offices in Norway, the US, China, and Switzerland. It has developed over 20 titles but is perhaps best known for its MMO Age Of Conan: Hyborian Adventures, which shipped over 1.2 million copies to retail in 2008.

Funcom is the latest company to announce that it has adopted the market-leading lighting technology Enlighten from Geomerics. Enlighten will be used in the The Secret World as well as the highly anticipated expansion of Age of Conan. The new look of Age of Conan, with Enlighten technology incorporated, was first demonstrated publicly at GDC Europe and Gamescom in Cologne.

After a series of media-only presentations held at the Penny Arcade Expo 2009 in Seattle last weekend, Funcom today lifted the press embargo allowing gaming sites everywhere to reveal new details on The Secret World, Funcom's upcoming modern-day Massively Multi-player Online (MMO) game. As a part of the new reveals of the game, Funcom today also released the first ever official screenshots of the real-world MMO.

Secret World from Funcom is one such project, and will release on PC and Xbox 360 in 2010. Yet, what will set the MMO apart from the rest.

Secret World will be set in modern day times in the real world, and players will be able to roam the good planet Earth just like normal life – however all the myths and legends that we have heard of in real life will actually turn out to be true in the Secret World. AggroGamer: "While Funcom has stated they were going to finally be showing more of their new IP, The Secret World, that doesn't stop stuff from being slipped out to cause a stir around the net. This time it is the continuation of the trailer we brought you way back in April. I'm sure you've seen it by now. It is the one with the random hot chick drinking a milk shake, going into her apartment, and then being attacked by mister bondage face. Ring a bell? No? Then watch that video before this one.

Now that you are caught up to speed, here is the new clip. Not really a continuation, but it is an awesome look at one of the games other character types/factions. But also a cool looking creature and creepy terrain. Something that looks like a weird scarecrow, with blades for arms, and that can explode into crows. It looks as awesome as the way they made Scarecrow look in Batman Arkham Asylum."
