Despite all the negative press that Square Enix have been getting from fans on Western Shores, Japanese gamers don't really seem anywhere near as concerned. Famitsu published a list of Japan's most anticipated games and Square Enix had a staggering 9 games from the list which had 15 titles.

Square Enix has revealed that whoever pre-orders The Last Remnant's Xbox 360 version in Japan will receive a DVD called SQUARE ENIX x Xbox 360 TRAILER COLLECTIONS. The DVD includes around 30 trailers and TV commercials of Star Ocean: The Last Hope, The Last Remnant and Infinite Undiscovery in both Japanese and English.
Forget everything you may or may not know about Square Enix's The Last Remnant. Forget about how it's the latest and greatest 360 RPG from Japan, and how it uses Unreal Engine 3 for its graphics, and how it's coming out in about a month (PS3 owners will have to wait longer). No, the real story behind this game, the one that has been dreadfully underreported on so far, is that you use this mole-like thing to help you dig for weapon-building material. Look out, Western developers!
The achievements for the upcoming Square Enix RPG, The Last Remnant, have been revealed by Xbox360achievements.org. The game will feature 22 achievements for the full 1000 points, and should be quite interesting, as even the achievements that aren't secret are secret in themselves. For example, one of the achievements reads "Do you want a challenge? Defeat the monster that appears from a certain quest." On top of these achievements, there are also five actual secret achievements, two of which are 200 points apiece. For the full list of achievements, hit the jump below.

The Last Remnant is all about firsts. It's the first title that Square Enix has made using the Unreal Engine 3, and the first title that Square Enix has used actual foreigners during the game's motion capture - a move, according to art director Yusuke Naora "totally changed our way of thinking about the project".

The Last Remnant is going to be released very soon (56 days, to be exact) for the Xbox 360, and Square Enix has finally decided it's time for us to know how the game is actually played. The company has released 70 screenshots, a lot of artwork and a short description of how the battle system works.
Square Enix has released in the Famitsu magazine some very nice screenshots and arts of its upcoming big RPG named The Last Remnant for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. Scheduled (on Xbox 360) for November 20 worldwide, the game will be playable in a couple of weeks during Tokyo Game Show 2008.
Square Enix said Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope and the Last Remnant would be at Tokyo Game Show, but in what form? The ambiguous presence might be accredited to where both games are going to be found. Inside the press release announcing Infinite Undiscovery's release in Japan, Microsoft said playable builds of Star Ocean 4: The Last Hope and the Last Remnant will be inside Microsoft's booth.

However, and unfortunately, this statement is false. Famitsu, the origin of the mistaken release date has issued a correction (via IGN)."
TalkPlayStation.com writes:"The Last Remnant official website opens on the 18th of August 2008. Currently a timed Xbox 360 exclusive, it will eventually come to the Playstation 3. Check back to the website in 7 days."

Square Enix has gone PC. On the first day of the show, the Japanese game publisher announced that Final Fantasy XIII is coming to PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 (in Europe and North America only) and PC. During a press conference following the Microsoft event, Final Fantasy XIII Producer Yoshinori Kitase discussed the new development strategy that Square Enix has taken with its upcoming games.
PS3 Fanboy: "The official site of the The Last Remnant is now online. There's a trailer, a prologue, information on the battle system, 4 characters with voices and 12 screenshots. You can even choose between three different songs as your background music. The game prologue mentions Remnants as ancient artifacts of awesome power but unknown origins, and that mankind's usage of them has caused "a rift in the world's balance." Isn't there always a rift in the world's balance in every Square game?"
