Six Days in Fallujah

Six Days in Fallujah – first look

A recreation of real events in our current war, in a game

Over 40 marines are contributing their experiences in one of the bloodiest segments of fighting in our current war in Iraq for the game Six Days in Fallujah. So if Call of Duty, Gears of War and Halo aren't real enough for you, pay attention. Six Days focuses on an on-the-ground soldier’s experience leading a small squad in a populated, hostile and very realistic battlefield. Though some will call the game remiss for not questioning the validity and morality of the war, the authenticity and accuracy are hard to argue with.

Many of the scenarios are based on real-life missions, putting you into the boots of a real soldier. That means civilians wandering into your line of fire and danger not presenting itself as clear and present spiky aliens and guys with bright red communist berets.

The environments are bullet-riddled and semi-blown up, and every object and piece of cover can be destroyed – at least any part you’d expect to be vulnerable to bullets. We saw marines force a group of terrorists to retreat into a house, and rather than following them in through the front door, and exposing themselves to direct fire, the soldiers planted explosives on the side of the house and blasted open their own entrance.

It's certainly still a current topic, so we can't help but be intrigued by Fallujah, especially if it pulls off an accurate (but still fun) war simulation. On the other hand, it sounds a bit morbid and is arguably based on uncomfortably recent history. Our suspicion is that there will be a balance struck between what actually happens in war – which is genuinely horrible and terrifying stuff – and the fun of playing a videogame (even if advertising tries to tell you war is fun).

I get the feeling this one is going to get all kinds of banned. If not, its still going to get itself in the news. People are already up in arms about it.

Also, I hope your gonna show up on the podcast more often Paul.

This one's definitely getting banned!

I guess that next up is an Auschwitz camp commander simulation or a WWII SS game where you enter Warsaw ghettos and start herding Jews in concentration camps with possible power-up after you rape and kill unarmed civilians...

This is a new low from companies desperate for press coverage.

@MilitaryRaiden

That's a big accusation you're making there - comparing US forces in Fallujah to Nazi death squads. There is no basis for such a comparison. There are many people who support the coalition's role in Iraq, who do not associate our troops with the SS, and who would be grossly offended by your comments rather than by this videogame.

You write as though your opinion about the war in Iraq is a simple fact, and so conclude that this game is irredeemably offensive. This is incorrect.

If I were you, I would take a look at how Islamic countries treat their Jewish populations before you compare US forces to the Nazis.

Aye Aye pimlicosound! There are too many angsty individuals these days who romanticize anti-military rhetoric and just anti-US rhetoric in general. Sure, us Yankees have goals and agendas of great infidelity and greed (as all nations do), but we go about executing those agendas with a calming mask of democracy spreading and dictator shattering (but sometimes dictator-endorsing, but rarely). Look at Post-WWII Japan, now one of the world's biggest economies!! And look at Post-WWII Germany, its the epicenter of economic might in Europe (but that is due to their own adeptness, Japan as well, but it was us who gave them the opportunity.)
I personally believe there is no validity to be in Iraq or even Afghanistan, but we are, so pulling out and not atoning for the damage we have done to those regions would be unforgivable. We need to see them through. If anything, we should focus on Pakistan, as that's where the largest Terror Cells are, not to mention a payload of nukes in the slippery hands of a volatile government, but even then, I would not ever endorse such a campaign. Aggressive Roosevelt diplomacy always works ^_^

The focus on realism and relevance to today's world should make this one a curious one to look out for

I thin this will bea go game if done corrctly. Im just going to giveth arning though that shooting civilians during a mission needs to have an in game penalty. If not I can aleady see the headlines and people ranting about how terrible this game is for the children LOL. But I think the destructible environment and realism sound fun.

Oh and Military Raiden get off the anti-war bandwagon because its gotten old andy your comments are way out of line. In other words Shut The Fuck Up.

Personally I think that there will be some controversy over this game, as with any shooter in this day and age, but I hope that it will be very realistic and fun.

For future reference, Marine should always be capitalized.

I knew some Marines who were there. It's quite a story.

agreed Wud03, Marines deserve Nothing they have not already taken, they have Earned the respect of a Marine, and just so GR didnt know, There is no such thing as an Ex-marine "These hands remember the rifle, these hands will build my house, change my kids diaper, love my wife, but these hands will Always remember the rifle"

Nice. I love realistic military shooters. I wish people who call Call of Duty realistic would play games like this or Operation Flashpoint.

I love how everyone is already dogging this game just because it is based on a controversial war. What's the difference between this and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. It's in the same setting, it's just this game looks 100 times better. Military Raiden you need to get your head out of your ass and get your facts straight especially if you haven't ever been in any branch of the service I don't know how you can judge. I'd say it must be good if 40 Marines are endorsing it.

i see this game as an interesting insight and very thought provoking. i would like to know more on exactly how much is based actual happenings. militaryraiden, your a self righteous asshole who shits out his mouth and talks out his ass. either way, your talking shit. but your post is kinda funny so its ok :)

as a former vet, i think this game would give civilians an inside look into what our boys are going through in iraq. i was in afghanistan in 2002 and seen some shit, but whats going on in iraq, is much worse than anything anyone seen coming. to all the anti war bastards......without our soldiers in iraq, what would we do? how many u.s. cities need to be attacked before we did something? you may not agree but 6000 dead americans are praying and watching over our soldiers as they fight for america and each other. they are fighting for a cause.....FREEDOM!!!!! .....honor is what this country was built on and it continues today in iraq. not only are we fighting terrists, we are giving others a chance for freedom from opression, to live free like us if only for a short while. god bless our soldiers and the u.s.a!!!!!!
BooostFlare  - 7 months 8 days ago
Are we discussing this game here or the iraq war??

F@#$ the jihadist and the muslims who say the quran isnt violent it say to kill the non belivers and blacks cant go to heaven the wars in the middle east r justified
Kipp56  - 7 months 4 days ago
Well, if you're going to be that way about Whiteskull, the Bible says to stone non-believers to death and burn their houses, and in case you have forgotten there were these things called the crusades. Honestly, as an atheist I have no clue how these kinds of declarations are interpreted by most religious followers, but seeing as i haven't heard about stonings in the news, I'd say it's safe to assume most people don't interpret this stuff literally. Yes the terrorists we're fighting are Muslims, but that is simply because Islam happens the dominant religion in a region of extreme political and social conflict, conditions which breed terrorism.

And militaryraiden, you have the all the reasons in the world to disapprove of the Iraq war, trust me, but comparing U.S. forces to the SS is completely out of line. Next time, keep your shitbrained opinions to yourself. Also, I find your name amusingly ironic for obvious reasons.
