Puzzle Quest: Revenge of the Plague Lord hits Xbox LIVE Arcade on Wednesday (News)

D3Publisher today confirmed that expansion pack Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords - Revenge of the Plague Lord, its latest Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 offering, will launch on Xbox LIVE Marketplace July 23, 2008. The expansion pack will be available for play as an addition to fan favorite game Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, and includes four new hero professions, scores of new spells to cast and items to collect, challenging new quests, monsters and bosses, and the introduction of a new archenemy. Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords - Revenge of the Plague Lord will be available on Xbox LIVE marketplace for 700 Microsoft Points.

Help focus test new Puzzle Quest game in LA (News)

D3Publisher of America is looking for volunteers to focus test the "next game in the Puzzle Quest franchise." If you live in the Los Angeles area and have played the original Puzzle Quest, contact lisa[at]mindofthegamer[dawt]com and place "Puzzle Quest Research" in the subject line.

Emails must be received by April 18 and participants will be chosen on a first come, first served basis; there will also be screening for "additional criteria." Joystiq spoke with a representative who told them participants will be mostly testing Galactrix, a little Revenge of the Plague Lord, and "other" Puzzle Quest related things.

Puzzle Quest 1.5 Gets Named, Detailed (News)

After asking fans of the Puzzle Quest franchise to name their new expansion pack, D3 was inundated with more than 500 suggestions. Today they settled on the name Quest: Challenge of the Warlords - Revenge of the Plague Lord.

Revenge of the Plague Lord will be hitting Xbox Live arcade this spring and include four new hero professions: bard, rogue, ranger and warlock, as well as a new area on teh Southern Map which includes more than 25 new quests, 50 new spells and 40 new magical items.

Puzzle Quest Expansion Pack and Naming Contest Revealed (News)

D3Publisher of America on March 17 revealed a new expansion pack for Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for Xbox LIVE Arcade. Code-named "Puzzle Quest: 1.5" internally, the expansion pack includes four new Hero professions, scores of new spells to cast and items, new quests, monsters and bosses and much more including the introduction of a new archenemy, Antharg, the Lord of Plague.

D3PA and Infinite Interactive ask fans to submit game title and name the expansion. Fans can leave suggestions at www.puzzle-quest.com, starting at noon PDT Monday, March 17 and ending at noon PDT, Friday, March 21. The winning game title and two runners-up will be announced on April 2.

The soon-to-be-named expansion pack will be available as an addition to Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords for Xbox LIVE Arcade in spring 2008.

GDC '08: Puzzle Quest was deemed too risky (News)

Just like the Beatles, Puzzle Quest was turned down many times before D3 Publisher took the game on, Infinite Interactive CEO Steve Fawkner told the audience at his Game Developers Conference session.

Fawkner said that the pitching process was incredibly frustrating, which he illustrated with a cartoon. He said, "because it was deemed an 'innovative product,' it was difficult to sell the idea. We had one publisher who said they loved it, but they wouldn't publish it because they had no idea how many copies it would sell." A while later, the same publisher asked for more copies of the game, and Fawkner presumed this was because it had changed its mind on publishing the title. "They said 'no'," he laughed. "They just wanted more copies because everyone was playing it in the lunchtime in their office."

D3Publisher of America has confirmed that a second entry in the ultra-addictive Puzzle Quest franchise is due this year. No further details on the title are available, though company also revealed it will be publishing a Shaun the Sheep video game and another Ben 10 title.

Released last year, the Infinite Interactive-developed Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords took the gaming community by storm with its addictive combination of color-matching combat and RPG-style quests. The initial Nintendo DS and PSP editions were followed by PC, PlayStation 2, and Wii iterations along with an Xbox 360 release via the online Xbox Live Arcade.

Valve's Portal and 2K Boston/Australia's BioShock lead the nominees for the eighth annual Game Developers Choice Awards with five nominations each, including the coveted Game of the Year title, organizers have announced.

The Game of the Year category also includes Infinity Ward's Call of Duty 4, which follows with four nominations and, with both games receiving two nominations each, Harmonix's Rock Band and Nintendo's Super Mario Galaxy.
