Speaking to VG247 at Develop today, Bizarre Creations head Sarah Chudley said that Activision, and not Microsoft, bought the Gotham developer as Microsoft's "internal structure probably wasn't in the right place to buy things at the time."
Competing against more than 700 gamers from a record 74 countries, the United States overcame the toughest competition in World Cyber Games (WCG) history to capture three gold medals, two silver medals, and a bronze medal in twelve PC and Xbox 360 titles, and won the overall team championship at the Grand Final in Seattle.
Before its recent acquisition by Activision, Microsoft had already told Bizarre Creations that it would no longer be used for the development of future instalments of the microsoft-owned PGR series - thus ending a close working relationship and presumably prompting Bizarre's eventual sale.
The summer dry spell for video games came to an end last week with the arrival of "BioShock," the creepy underwater shooter that has won rave reviews and flown off store shelves.

Directly from the Championship Gaming Series website the regular season is slated to begin on June 27. The players will be arriving in Los Angeles in the next few days and begin a month of preparation and competition to determine the Region 1 Champion. There will be several ways during the season to catch the action. In week 1 the matches will be covered by http://www.thecgs.com. You can come to the CGS website for up to the minute scores, video on demand and player reactions. Week 2 will be broadband week, where all matches will be streamed live on thecgs.com.
