Atari have announced that some more downloadable planes will be available for their ace flying game, Ace Combat 6. Typically each plane has a unique look and will cost in the region of 300-400 points each (with one being FREE). There's also some screenshots available.
IGN reports, "Leading video games developer and publisher Namco Bandai Games America Inc. announced today that the Ace Combat series has surpassed 10 million units sold worldwide, and that Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War for the PlayStation 2 computer entertainment system has surpassed one million units sold in North America. Fueled by consistently entertaining and accessible gameplay as well as cutting-edge graphics, the series has remained a critical and commercial smash hit since its introduction in 1995."
Microtransactions are new to this generation. They can really add to the value of a game, but some developers have been abusing them. Adding all the marketplace content for Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation reveals how expansive downloadable content can get.
Ace Combat 6 has seen steady DLC ever since its release late last year. Up until now, however, most of that content has been in the form of decal or paint changes to existing planes. Today we can confirm four new downloadable maps will arrive on February 28, plus five new sky-splitting jets.
